Rev. Bill McCutchen, Lead Pastor

Born in South Carolina, Bill grew up in Cape Girardeau, MO, before moving to Charlotte, NC when he was 12. He graduated from Presbyterian College in 1990. After a year in commercial banking, he returned to Charlotte where he met Lisa at Forest Hill Church in 1991. They were married in June of 1992 and shortly thereafter Bill entered into ministry.

After studying at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS and graduating with a Master of Divinity in 1996, Bill spent the next several years working with the college and singles ministry at Second Presbyterian Church in Memphis, TN before shifting ministry gears to plant All Saints Presbyterian in the Midtown area of Memphis.

As a “Carolina boy,” the Carolinas were calling, and in 2003, Bill joined the staff at Community Bible Church in Highlands, NC, working with discipleship, marriages, and families. After two years, the Lord led him and his family to Westminster Presbyterian in Rock Hill, SC, where Bill was part of the preaching team and worked with shepherding ministries. He accepted the call of lead pastor at Hilton Head Presbyterian in 2012.

Bill and Lisa have been blessed with three sons: Will graduated from the University of South Carolina and now lives in Charlotte, NC; Zach is currently serving with East Mountain Community (a Christian missions ministry) in South Africa; and Matthew is a student and soccer player at Queens University in Charlotte, NC. Bill loves spending time with his family and enjoying all that lowcountry life has to offer.

 

Rev. Matt Scott, Worship & Community Life Pastor

Just a month before his college graduation, Matt and Kristen were married in Mobile, AL. After graduating from the University of Mobile with a dual major in Worship Leadership and Music Performance, their next adventure led them to Boston’s north shore where Matt attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He graduated in 2011 with a Master of Divinity and served with Leadership Transformations (a para-church ministry), helping pastors and leaders prioritize the care and nurture of their souls.

Matt joined the staff of Hilton Head Presbyterian in 2013 as Pastor of Worship and accepted the role of Pastor of Community Life in 2018.

While Matt and Kristen lived in the Boston area, they launched The 2654 Project, their collective efforts of photography and music. In January of 2013, Matt released his most recent album of repurposed hymns titled Poets & Saints.

He and Kristen welcomed their son Emerson in 2017 and have a silver labrador named Stella. Matt enjoys running, carpentry, a good cup of coffee, and collecting hymnals.

 

Rev. Tim Pitzer, Student and Families Pastor

Tim grew up in Rhode Island and moved to South Carolina to attend Clemson University. With a heart already drawn to students, Tim served as the youth director at Clemson Presbyterian Church from 2009 - 2011 while completing his undergraduate degree in philosophy and psychology.

During his time at Clemson he met Stephanie, and they were married after his college graduation in 2011. They moved to Charlotte, NC that same year for Tim to attend Reformed Theological Seminary where he earned a Master of Divinity in 2014.

While studying at RTS, he served as a pastoral intern at Cross Park Church and worked for The Life Book Movement, an organization that trains youth pastors to mobilize their students to become missionaries in their public schools. In 2014, Tim accepted a call to join the staff of Hilton Head Presbyterian as Student and Families Pastor.

When he’s not enjoying time with his students, Tim enjoys cycling, coffee, and being with Stephanie and their three daughters: Ruthie, Clara, and Iris.

 

Janice Magnin, Children’s Ministries Director

Janice has lived in Hilton Head since 1998 and and has been involved in Community Bible Study for the last 20 years, serving in various leadership roles and faithfully studying God's Word. Her deep love for the Lord and for children led her to HHPC in 2016 as Children’s Ministries Director. In addition to running our children’s ministry, Janice volunteers as coordinator of American Heritage Girls.

Janice grew up outside of Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in political science. After marrying Eric in 1992, they moved to Orlando, FL where Janice did graduate studies at Rawlins College and worked in guest relations for Walt Disney World, teaching educational seminars and leading tours. 

Janice is a mother of five and was blessed to homeschool each of her children for a portion of their education. Her daughter Rachel is now a Clemson graduate and works in cancer research, Tyler is on a music scholarship at the University of South Carolina, Nicholas and Amanda are students at Hilton Head High School, and Emma is a student at Hilton Head Island IB Elementary School. Janice enjoys arts and crafts, writing, and daily exercising and running. 

 

Karin Curtis, Communications Coordinator

Originally from Columbia, SC, Karin graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2006 with a degree in advertising. She married Dylan in 2007 after dating throughout high school and college, and in 2009 they moved to Baltimore, MD. The Lord called them to Hilton Head in 2012 and they currently live in Bluffton with their three young sons, Brody, Crofton, and Eamon.

 

Karin has managed communications and public relations for several nonprofit organizations throughout her career while maintaining her work as a family photographer. When she’s not working, she loves running, baking, roadtrips, and long days at the beach with her family.

 

Neely Langhals, Children's Ministry Volunteer Coordinator

Neely attended Columbia International University and graduated in 2000 with a double major in Bible and Youth Ministry. She met her husband Doug at CIU and they were married in 2002 before moving to Hilton Head in 2004.

Prior to moving to Hilton Head, Neely worked as a female youth leader at Cornerstone Presbyterian in Columbia, SC and then served the same role for several years at Hilton Head Presbyterian. She also worked as a sign language interpreter in the Beaufort County schools.

In 2005, Neely began her most rewarding job as a stay-at-home-mom and has been blessed with five children: Keely, Macey, Kres, Wes, and Josey. With four of the five now in school, she loves being able to serve part-time on the HHPC Children’s Ministry staff and serve other moms by making sure their children are well cared for.

Neely enjoys running, summer breaks with her kids, family getaways to Lake Keowee, and Clemson football.

 

Rob Maharrey, Business Administrator 

Rob joined the HHPC staff as Business Administrator in 2018, bring a wealth of management experience from his career in manufacturing. 

After graduating from Clemson University in 1989 with a degree in mechanical engineering, Rob continued on to earn a masters in mechanical engineering from the University of South Carolina in 1995 and an MBA from Stephen F. Austin State in 2004. 

He met his wife Karla while studying at Clemson and they were married in 1991. His career as an engineer and manufacturing executive with national tractor trailer companies led them from South Carolina to Georgia, Tennessee, Iowa, Indiana, and Texas before Rob and his family relocated to Moss Creek in Hilton Head in 2013. They joined HHPC shortly thereafter, and Rob faithfully serves as a deacon and coordinates the Connection Team on Sunday mornings. 

While living in Texas, Rob helped with preschool Sunday school for 14 years, and has volunteered with our K-1st Grade 360 Seminars since joining HHPC. Rob is a self-described golf-nut, playing 100+ rounds each year, and has a love for sailing (as former captain of the Clemson University sailing team). He and Karla have two sons; Rory who is a Clemson graduate and an engineer, and Ryan who is a junior at the Citadel. 

 

Robin Perkins, Administrative Assistant

After a full career in customer service and human resources, Robin Perkins joined the staff of HHPC in 2017 as administrative assistant and she brought a love of organization and a joyful personality to the daily operations of the church office.

Her career experience includes roles as a partner in a startup hi-tech lighting company, an executive assistant to a director of finance, a customer service representative for a closet organizer manufacturer, and a plant-wide administrative assistant in a micro-brewery. Robin and her husband Rick moved from Michigan to Charleston, South Carolina in 2015, and then came to Hilton Head in 2016.

Robin and Rick were high school sweethearts and married in 1980. They have two grown daughters and one son-in-law. Robin enjoys spending her free time riding on the back of her husband’s Harley,  putting her interior decorating degree to use in her and her daughters’ homes, and strolling the shores of Hilton Head Island.

 

Henry Holmberg, EQUIP Summer Intern - Anchor Student Ministries

Henry is a rising sophomore at Anderson University in Anderson SC, majoring in accounting with a minor in Christian studies. He and his family have been members of HHPC for three years. He has been deeply involved in both the youth group and the worship team and is excited to continue his involvement on staff as an EQUIP Summer Intern.

Henry plans to attend Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte after completing his undergraduate degree and desires to work as a pastor in the church. As a familiar face to the youth program, Henry is excited to build upon existing relationships as well as forge new ones.

 

Molly Lewis, EQUIP Summer Intern - Anchor Student Ministries

Molly is a rising sophomore at Anderson University in Anderson, SC and is studying to be a high school English teacher. She and her family are members of HHPC and have been attending for four years. For as long as Molly has been with the church’s youth program, she has loved the community and ministry and is excited to spend the summer giving back the care and discipleship that was given to her.

Molly is always up for an adventure and loves writing and making music. She is a member of Reformed University Fellowship at Anderson and has a heart for connecting with people. She’s looking forward to serving as a resident advisor (RA) when she returns to Anderson in the fall.

 

Kara Shannon, EQUIP Summer Intern - Worship Team

Kara is originally from Rock Hill, SC where she graduated from Westminster Catawba Christian School in 2015. This is Kara’s second summer serving as an EQUIP Summer Intern with the HHPC Worship Team.

She is a rising senior at the College of Charleston and is majoring in theatre performance with a minor in business administration. As a student at CofC, Kara is involved in RUF, the student tour guide organization, and Phi Mu fraternity.

Kara’s heroes are her parents and her older sister. In her free time, she enjoys cities, coffee shops, songwriting, and spending time with friends and family.
